Due to its considerable weight, some hairline cracks appeared within the burr, which have been carefully incorporated into the design, adding character and depth. The underside of the burr is reinforced with a hexagonal frame and secured with metal hardware to stabilize the structure and prevent the splits from expanding, ensuring its durability. A precision application of adhesive further ensures the table remains stable and firmly intact.
History Encased in Wood: A fascinating feature of this table is the darker shading found within the burr, likely a result of a ferrous metal, such as an arrow or farming stake, embedded in the tree over a century ago. As the metal slowly integrated into the oak, it created a distinct, darkened area, providing a beautiful and historical element to the design. The burr was carefully sliced into four sections, and no trace of the metal remained in the finished pieces.
